Studio

Last week my studio light set arrived and I had a chance to use it on Saturday. Presently I only have the black backdrop, but I really love how it looks. This little guy was only 11 days old. We took some with him and his older brother, and then the rest of the kids are their cousins. What a beautiful group of kids.

clara

These were taken mid-summer but I finally got around to watermarking them so I could post them. She is such a darling little girl. She was my second official newborn shoot, and I think two key to a successful newborn shoot is to be flexible with what you want and not to be in a hurry. This is a real advantage to doing an in-home shoot where the mom can easily meet the baby's needs and it isn't too much new stimulation (besides me and occasional bright flashes of light!)

a quiet moment

This portrait is a good example of why I think the best way to photograph kids is to just spend some time with them and shoot lots of pictures. Sometimes it's the in-between, unplanned shots that you end up liking the most.
